Rabbi Yaakov Fried was born and raised in Forest Hills, N.Y. A graduate of the Chofetz Chaim school system, Rabbi Fried spent several years studying in Israel under the tutelage of the renowned Torah scholars, Rabbi Moshe Chait and Rabbi Avraham Kanarek. Upon his return to America he spent many years in an advanced program led by one of the America’s most influential Roshei Yeshiva, Rabbi Henoch Leibowitz, the Dean of The Rabbinical Seminary of America , with whom he developed a particularly close relationship.
Rabbi Fried earned his bachelor’s degree in education from Touro College and received his Rabbinical ordination (Smicha) from the Rabbinical Seminary of America. He is the former youth director of The Queens Jewish Center, Coordinator of Queens Branch of the Jewish Education Program and the Director of numerous Jewish education initiatives in the New York area.
In 1999, Rabbi Fried accepted a position as a Middle School & High School Rebbe in Yeshiva Chofetz Chaim of Miami.
Rabbi Fried serves a s a volunteer paramedic for Hatzolah and is a member of the Chevra Kadisha Society. He has taken special training in Holocaust Studies and he is an accredited Holocaust Studies Teacher. In that capacity, he has travelled extensively throughout Eastern & Western Europe.
In addition to Holocaust studies, Rabbi Fried’s expertise is in modern and ancient Jewish History and in Talmudic didactics.
Rabbi Fried is married to Chani, an occupational therapist for the Miami Dade Public School System. They are the proud parents of four beautiful daughters.
